Candy Girl / Grunge Beta

I take you far far away in a land before... oh wait, that's not how this begins... This is Tiffany, she's been a few colors, here's her journey....

Well over a year ago, when I was still at Dellaria, I came in on a night off to do this Fancy color on Miss. Tiff. At the time Tiffany had grown out red hair color I believe and I lightened her entire head with the magical Olaplex to protect. Although, at this time I didn't know about a platinum card, so I slapped bleach on her ends,, shmooshed it together and waited for it to brighten up a bit then mixed up some more and did her roots. At this time I was unable to get GOOD hair color at the salon so I had to buy it and take advantage of the sinks at work. Anyhow, enough blabber - I bet you want to see pictures! These are some archived pictures so I will be searching long and hard, brb (remember AIM and brb with our silly away messages? haha, afk)

Then i proceeded to do a root color and an end color - I mixed Pravana Silver with Pravana Violet and applied it to her roots and at the ends I used straight Violet. This color was gorgeous, but with the lighting in the salon, it didnt look as GORGEOUS in pictures. DAMN LIGHTING. It'll forever be an issue unless I break down and get a ring light and all that jazz. But thats for another time >.< On to the color -

I realize, now, with Pravana being my color line for months, and working so closely with it, the reason the roots looked deeper, is because the silver is a bluey silver, but I hadn't looked at these pictures since posting the collage of the process on instagram. (Kit_vicious) style. and I was using Pravana because it was best, not because I was trained in it, well now, I am Pravana Certified so obviously shit's different, but anyhow, we're going to fast forward to a couple of months ago when GRUNGE BETA was born...

OKAY SO! Now we've fast forwarded - I hadn't seen Tiff in my chair since that last color, you know, life and stuff makes it difficult sometimes... well she was coloring at home, I probably have the order wrong, but I know that once her color faded, she turned it a dark blue and did that for a while and then went on to green, as shown above. Her entire head was bleached out, and under all those layers of color the hair was definitely light enough for anything we decided to do. The beginning idea was RED, but that quickly changed once I used 000 ( as always) and realized we had a better canvas for something more fun.

My go to formula is 000 with 30 to remove vivid colors and if I want to, it'll shift the base of the natural hair, which is exactly what I wanted in this case. If I dont need to use bleach I choose not to =] We didn't want a Ronald McDonald or fire engine red, so the hair needed to be lifted slightly, and that did the trick...

Here you see a Screen shot of the time lapse I did while I applied the color. As you see, the ends are still very much green.. A gorgeous Lime Green in fact! Those molecules are a pain the ass to get rid of, I mean hell, if I bleached them they would have faded a little more but working with what we had made so much more sense to me. I did a dual color, on the right side I used Pravana Wild Orchid on the regrowth and on the left, I mixed up something like 5.66 and 5 in Chromasilk (a shade of red, with some brown) On to the ends, I mixed up two formulas , one that had more blue and one that was close to turquoise in the bowl. I knew both would be a turquoise ish shade, but I wanted one to be intentionally more turquoise, as you can see ...

It was so cool at the point of where the two met, and I melted them together so they'd blend nicely... Let it process and rinsed with cool water and conditioned,

I couldn't keep my hands off it while it was wet, and it resembled the tail of a BETA, look at the shine where the two of the colors met, I just couldnt get over it. If you're one of my clients you know how I am, I dont SHUT UP about whatever I am doing, and I will continuously run my hands through the hair, watching it reflect and absorb the light as it blows around like leaves in the wind. That was corny - but I am leaving it, because well, I can... =] Anyway, as always, getting off track... on to the styled pictures. I dried, and curled, and did a little upstyle thingy, I thought it caught the color nicely :)

and then FF again, and I will take you to CANDY GIRL. Tiff text me not long after and told me she was READY for vibrant hair (Grunge Beta was a step in that direction without giving her a heart attack! Vibrant roots are super over whelming at first!)

Here you see Tiff's hair looking pretty rough, but it only LOOKS rough. It was a rough blowdry after doing a 000 to remove the vivids I did. After this, we bleached...

I talked to her about all of my ideas of projects I wanted to try, and showed her pictures of all of my inspiration... These pictures included images of Lisa Frank characters and fish, colorful fish of what looked to me like a great canvas for some black light fun. Anyway, she loved the image of Candy Girl...

I customized the root color by mixing pink with neon orange and a few other colors to create this gorgeous root/midshaft color.., I used neon pink and neon blue to create a beautiful purple for her ends as well as a customized pink and for the yellow I mixed neon yellow with locked in yellow and she was born. BEWARE - a FUCKTON of pictures are to follow.

Quick dry and some selfies. And then we curled it...

but then... we roughed it up again and I said "make some faces"

I will admit that I really am not good at getting good pictures but the art its self is pretty good if I dont say so myself... =D

and beginning stages of my upstyle to show off the colorssssss

lollllz....

and then the finished product...

with some bling ,,,

and lastly, because I am ridiculous, I had to try ONE more style, I thought it was whimsical, but it didn't quite impress me. Yes, I have to impress myself, ugh the stuggles of being a perfectionist...

THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS ALL FOLKS!

I hope you enjoyed todays losts files, this was a long one, so if you're still reading, kudos... and thank you :) <3
