The Missing Files
HEY THERE!!
OKAY so I figured, I should start with something super recent. To begiin,. we have my WONDERFUL client who found me on Yelp, Her name is Kayla and she came in for a haircut. She wanted a muted purple, and somehow I told her about this awesome technique that my brain came up with. I was looking for some inspiration for color but yet found a picture of inspiration and decided it would be the way in which the color was applied...
I worked on a manikin til 2 am one night. I hadn't worked on a manikin since my time at Dellaria- it had been some time and I decided it was the best way to see if I could bring my vision to life. Even if I only had old bleach and un used color laying around... it wasn't with the colors in the picture but I was determined to see if this so - called pattern would actually work out and immediately I realized it was a FANTASTIC idea, Manikins can truly be a blessing when you want to try something new but aren't too positive on how the outcome will be so... I set up the stand, sectioned out the hair, started to apply the color, and no joke, 2 min in, AS IM FILMING mind you, the stand broke - but I didnt let that kill my spirit, I just had to get er' done, and I DID. AND I KILLED IT. Below is a few pictures of the placement on the manikin. As well as a pretty commical photo mid manikin drop, oh and me in my MONKEY ONESIE... or my boyfriends, same thing right?
I posted the pictures online on my FACEBOOK professional page #ShanLeighHair and on my INSTAGRAM @Shanleighhair for everyone got to see the magic behind this idea. I filmed the color application process as a teaser with no ended so that people would anticipate the end the result (:
Anyway, the color was brought to life using the new color jewel tones that came out by pravana ; Amethyst, Emerald, and Blue Topaz, and even though it wasn't my first use of these tones, I knew it was the PERFECT use for a contest in which I decided my color placement would be something different, and something that was able to be created again and again if need be but never do able by someone else...below is all of my pictures during two days later since we couldn't get any the day of...
I hope that who ever has read this, and has checked out my pictures aka THE LOST FILES can appreciate the un seen moments for that one picture I choose to post.
Personally, I know how excited I'd be seeing the pictures,as a fan, that I don't get to see because they're sitting in a hard drive somewhere - So I hope that its as gratifying as I would imagine it to be as a FAN. Love the process? go vote on my entry @pravanas #showusyourvivids ! <3 ILY!

This amazing woman of a client came back in a few nights after so I could paint her face and take pictures with a black light. ITS UV REACTIVE!
I had so many great ideas, but as a trial run, it was anything but successful. It was awkward and shes a saint for not judging my crazy ass, actually I feel as though I learned that I am not alone, and we've got a very similar personality. After dragging furniture around, and going from room to room, shutting lights off (of course there were other stylists in the salon lmao) trying to get the perfect view Perfect, sounds like you've heard that word quite a few times - if you're my client you understand my need for perfection, and how upset I get when its not achieved... anyway! See, there I go getting off track ( Also something you know if you're a client, haha) Needless to say, the makeup looked great, and the hair looked great, but without MORE lighting, we couldn't capture the pure beauty of this magnificent color..
